Helpful Packing Tips:
- Use quality boxes that are strong enough to hold the items stored.
- Dishware and glassware should be wrapped in paper or a bubble or foam wrap before being packed in sturdy boxes for added protection.
- Framed pictures and mirrors can be stored in specially made cardboard containers.
- Label all of your boxes well when packing to make it easier for you to find things when you need them. Remember to mark all boxes containing delicate items as "fragile".
- If you are planning on storing appliances, make sure that they are clean and dry.
- When selecting the right box, keep in mind the weight as well as the size of the items you are packing. Use small boxes for heavier items such as books. Larger boxes for lighter items such as blankets and pillows.
- When packing hanging clothes, use a wardrobe box with a hanging bar.
- Folded clothes can be packed in boxes or suitcases.
- All fragile or delicate items should be wrapped individually in paper, bubble wrap or foam wrap for added protection.
- Use quality tape to seal your boxes.
- Wrap small appliances when packing them and position them securely in a box to keep them from shifting during your move.
- If you no longer have the original box and packing to your electronic equipment, you can purchase specially made electronics and television
boxes. Use bubble wrap or other padding to wrap the components before boxing
them.
- If you disassemble any furniture, place the nuts, bolts and screws in a small zip lock bag. You can tape the bag on the inside or bottom of
the furniture to keep all pieces together.
- Never overfill a box, bulging boxes may not sit flat and be
difficult to store.
- Remove furniture legs if possible, and wrap in bubble wrap.

Helpful Storing Tips:
- When storing boxes, stack liked sized boxes together with heavier boxes at the bottom of the stack.
- Utilize shelving to maximize the height of your storage space.
- When storing refrigerators or freezers, leave the doors slightly ajar for ventilation. You can store blankets, pillows and linens inside these appliances.
- Pillows, linens and stuffed animals can be stored easily inside of clean, dry washers and dryers.
- Arrange your storage unit so that the items that you will need most frequently are conveniently located near the front of your unit, close
to the door. Plan your storage unit layout to allow for ease of access to all stored items by allowing space for walkways.
- Do not store anything combustible, flammable or perishable for your safety and that of other tenants.
- Use furniture drawers to store small pictures, knick knacks, silverware and other small or delicate items.
- Store furniture with its legs removed when possible to maximize storage space.
- Bed frames should be disassembled and stored on end.
- Sofas, loveseats and mattresses can be stored on end to save floor space.
- Wrap sofa and chair cushions in shrink wrap and place them on top of the furniture. Mattresses may need to be propped between other furniture
pieces to keep them vertical.
- Do not place heavy or sharp objects on top of upholstered furniture.
- Stack dining chairs seat to seat. You will conserve space and keep your seat covers dust free.
- Store mirrors and framed artwork on end to maximize space.
