Honestly, out of all the storage units I have ever had…this one feels the safest to go to alone. But the gate closes at 10pm. As in, you won’t be leaving unless you’re out of there by 10pm lol. But my unit accommodates plenty of stuff. I can swap out misc stuff based on the season. Considering I m hardly have any space to even move in the place I moved to. But I’ve been able to temporarily accommodate things from other roommates. And I love the fact that I can double up on locks. It’s one thing if someone got ahold of my access code and the key. But they certainly won’t be getting in, because I put a dial lock on there as well 🙂

They provide excellent customer service, contacting you to make sure that they are meeting your needs, whether that means upsizing or downsizing your unit. They refused to over-rent units to us, working with us to get us exactly what we needed. Their facilities are easy to access, clean, and secure. Look at a different place to store your stuff. Security cameras do not work here, their system is old, property is run down. Your stuff isn’t safe, I had a $10,000 dollar four wheeler stolen out of my unit. My lock wasn’t cut, the latch to the unit was cut off and my unit was was left wide open for days for anyone else to help themselves. I was not notified. I found my unit wide open. Police were called, a detective was assigned. Self storage plus was not cooperative with the investigation. Apparently their so called surveillance system is inoperable and they cannot back up their system. I’ve sent numerous emails to corporate without a single response. Don’t be a victim like me your stuff is not safe here And they don’t care Management has changed. Inside job they covered up well. Store your stuff somewhere else My unit was inside the so called secured area. I’ve later learned that thefts are not uncommon at the self storage plus facilities.

Just a disappointment, this place used to be a safe and reasonable place to keep your stuff but now under the new ownership and management all they do is jack the rent up and do not take care of the place at all. I previously had something stolen out of my storage and they were not cooperative at all with the police delaying the camera footage and then said they can’t provide the footage due to there outdated camera system and the footage had been deleted. Such a joke nothing can persuade me differently that this was an inside job. If you are a customer here and have anything of value in your storage please take the time to look somewhere else to store your belongings.

In today’s mail, I received yet another notice of a rate increase for the unit I am renting at Self Storage Plus in Gambrills. Along with the significant increase, they are now charging a “convenience fee” of $5.95 per month if you make a payment using their online portal. I have been a long-term tenant at this facility, but am not pleased with the frequent rate increases, as well as the new fee. The notice of the rate increase did not make any mention of the $5.95 fee. In order to avoid the fee, you have to make your payment in person at the office, which I assume is either cash or check. If you find yourself needing a storage unit, I would strongly suggest researching other facilities to see if there are better terms. I have come to the realization that I am throwing away my money on storing things I rarely see and in all likelihood don’t need. Don’t make my mistake.
